Swedish housing has its own vocabulary, and what it means for you as a seeker isn't always obvious. A short glossary, without the jargon.
A firsthand contract means renting directly from whoever owns the building. It usually runs until further notice, and it's the form that gives you the strongest security of tenure.
A sublet means renting from someone who is themselves renting, or who owns a flat and lets it out. It's almost always fixed-term and requires permission from the landlord or the housing association.
Queue time isn't a national queue. Every housing agency and every housing company runs its own, and time in one doesn't count in another. That's why a home can be impossible to get in one kommun and sit vacant in the next one over.
