The rent report: how much a two-room flat varies across 43 kommuner

We recalculated the median rent for a two-room flat in every kommun where we have enough data. The gaps within a län are wider than the gaps between them.

Comparing rents between kommuner is harder than it sounds. A 48 m² two-room flat in a new build and a 62 m² one from the sixties are not the same product, even when they sit next to each other in a list.

So we work from the median per kommun rather than the mean, and only include kommuner where the sample is large enough that a single listing can't move the number.

The clearest pattern is that distance to the nearest larger city matters more than which län the kommun sits in. Two kommuner in the same län can differ by thousands of kronor a month for the same size.
